Fascism

"Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat, but as temporality embarrassed millionaires."
— John Steinbeck

I fear there is a strain of fascism growing in this country. The Right Wing appears contemptuous of the poor and elderly as demonstrated by the attacks on the programs designed to offer at least food, medical care and a safe place to live.

Why are they so contemptuous of the poor? Because these folks have failed to become rich. These fascists venerate the wealthy. Tax breaks for millionaires, those long suffering folks through their hard work, inherited their wealth. These fascists hang on to the rich, carry their water, and hope to gather what is spilled.

The Fascists also want to create an "orderly society" based on the teaching of Deuteronomy and Leviticus and Ayn Rand. The poor have only themselves to blame is the rallying cry from the Right. Oddly the policies of the country over the past 30 years, since Reagan, have caused more and more people to suffer and these policies have been placed into high gear with the advent of the pretend "Christians" who hold up only the Old Testement and ignore everything Jesus said, yet carry His name on their banner. The utter hypocrisy of it all.

The working class could once aspire to becoming middle class, send their children to college and saving for retirement, all on one income. Then greed sent those jobs overseas. Those who lose their jobs in this way are still somehow to blame for their unemployment. America becomes a service based economy.

As long as your aren't a woman, a minority, an illegal immigrant, homosexual, atheist or deviant in any way, then life offers opportunity. You might notice that this is the way all Fascist societies work.  Put down and keep down the people who do not fit into the mold.

As in a previous post, the social engineering and re-distribution of wealth is what the Right accuses the Left but has been in fact, carrying out for years.  God, Gays and Guns, serve to distract the natural allies of the poor and working class.

I recently heard a congressman from New York railing against the "gay agenda" fearing they were would brainwash is child to believe homosexuality was acceptable, not realizing his child was being brainwashed to think it wasn't.
It has always seemed strange to me... the things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling, are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest, are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.  John Steinbeck
